Where to study Chiropractic
Educational institutions recognised by the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC).
A profession not yet regulated by law
Chiropractic is a health profession recognised by the WHO. Internationally, its teaching is overseen by the WFC, which accredits institutions that meet the highest standards of academic training and clinical practice.
In Chile the profession can be practised legally, but there is no state framework overseeing the quality of training or degrees. That is why it is essential to study at internationally recognised institutions and avoid informal programmes with no academic or professional validity.
Universidad Central de Chile (UCEN)
It is the only institution in the country with a chiropractic programme recognised by the WFC. Its graduates obtain an internationally recognised degree that gives them access to postgraduate programmes and certifications abroad.
- Special 4-year undergraduate programme taken after a first health-related degree
- As of 2025, eight cohorts have graduated and more are in training
Why follow a validated programme?
It ensures that training meets international academic and clinical standards, protecting both the professional and the patient.
Academic and clinical quality
Training in basic sciences, diagnosis and supervised clinical practice, essential for safe and effective care.
Patient safety and ethics
Reduces the likelihood of inappropriate or risky practices and promotes evidence-based care.
Professional recognition
Graduates are accepted into postgraduate programmes and certifications in Chile and abroad.
Protection against unqualified practice
Distinguishes university-trained professionals from those who take short or unaccredited courses.
International standards
Validated programmes meet WFC and WHO recommendations on content and clinical supervision.
Continuous development
Better access to courses, congresses and scientific networks that raise the quality of practice.
Is there an undergraduate programme in Chile?
Not currently. Unlike other countries, where the degree is studied from the start, in Chile it is only available as a special undergraduate programme. Undergraduate options do exist internationally and can be found on the WFC website.
