According to the statutes

How is the Board elected?

The National Board is the Association's governing and senior management body. It has seven members, who serve three-year terms and may be re-elected. After a re-election, a full term must pass before standing again.

Elections are held in October every three years, in the manner established by the Electoral Tribunal (TRICEL).

Powers

The National Board shall

  1. a)Fulfil the objectives of the Association and manage and dispose of its assets.
  2. b)Prepare each year, with the accountant's assistance, the Balance Sheet and Income and Expenditure Statement, and report to the Annual Ordinary General Assembly through the corresponding Annual Report.
  3. c)Hire the paid staff required, agree their remuneration and dismiss them when appropriate.
  4. d)Appoint or set up permanent or temporary departments, committees, councils and working groups to advise the National Board.
  5. e)Convene the General Assembly at the time and in the manner set out in the Statutes.
  6. f)Decide on the admission of new members and the appointment of honorary members; any rejection must be reasoned. Take note of members' resignations.
  7. g)Set the price of the various services provided by the Association.
  8. h)Exercise the disciplinary powers entrusted to it by the Statutes.
  9. i)Issue and amend the necessary regulations, with the approval of two thirds of the serving directors.
  10. j)Take legal action against the illegal practice of the profession.
  11. k)Propose the Association's affiliation to or disaffiliation from national or international federations or confederations, subject to approval by an absolute majority of members in a secret ballot.
  12. l)Oversee the functioning of Regional Chapters.
  13. m)Issue rules on the professional practice of its members.
  14. n)Grant awards and incentives that encourage professional development and confer honours for services to the profession and the Association.
  15. ñ)Issue reference guidelines on fees and remuneration.
  16. o)Submit to public authorities proposals aimed at improving legislation relevant to the profession.
  17. p)Issue rules of professional ethics for its members and ensure compliance.
  18. q)Keep a national register of members.
  19. r)Interpret the Statutes and their regulations, with the agreement of at least two thirds of the serving directors.
  20. t)Convene Conventions and issue their regulations.
  21. u)Authorise the creation of Regional Chapters in accordance with the regulations.
  22. v)Exercise the other powers conferred by the Statutes.
